Memorial Biography

Henry Alonzo Raines, 86, of Choctaw, Oklahoma died peacefully at Cornerstone Acute Care Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Sunday, April 11, 2021. He was born January 8, 1935, in Hinton, Oklahoma, the son of Henry Arthur And Dorothy Marie(Corn) Raines. He loved to share with anyone he came in contact with that he and Elvis shared a birthdate. Henry graduated from Heavener High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) and served 20 years from 1954 to 1974. He then began a second career in 1975 at the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1993 as a Revenue Agent. Henry received his Bachelors degree in Business Law from LaSalle Extension University in 1970; another Bachelors degree in Accounting in 1976 and his Masters degree in Education in 1979, both from Central State University, Edmond, OK. He was a Certified Public Accountant with the state of Oklahoma and worked as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service from 1975-1993. Henry was very proud of this accomplishment. He was also an Adjunct Accounting Instructor at Rose State College from 1979-1991. Henry opened a private accounting practice in his home in 1993 and continued to do accounting and bookkeeping work until he retired totally in 2015. While stationed with the USAF in Plattsburgh, NY, he met and wed Barbara Jane Brenner in 1956. They shared 64 years of marriage before Barbara passed away July 20, 2020. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and two of his brothers, Clarence and George Raines. Henry is survived by son, Roger Raines of Del City, Oklahoma; Daughter Karen and husband Phil Blasingame of Edmond, Oklahoma; Granddaughter Emily and husband Blair Holland and great grandson and namesake, Watson Raines Holland of Edmond, Oklahoma; Granddaughter Mellanie Blasingame of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Grandson Clay Blasingame of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sister Julia (Judy) McKee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Brother Clyde Raines of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Brother Claude Raines of Monterey, California; and many more relatives.
